Interior Work

The interior of Asterix was the standard carpet glued to the fiberglass hull.  Cheap and easy to install, but after nearly 40 years the glue was breaking down and the the carpet was becoming a mold magnet.  So time for something different.
First, rip out the old covering.
After getting rid of the old carpeting and cleaning the glue residue, thin plywood stringers were glued to the hull.  Mylar bubble insulation (the kind you use to wrap your domestic hot water tank) was installed between the stringers with a low-tack glue.  Then PVC wainscoting was installed over everything.  The PVC is supposed to be mold and mildew resistant.
 Installing the insulation.
The PVC wainscoting is installed.
